AIMOLI AML919 Groundwater Sampler Supports National Groundwater Monitoring Qualification Assessment

The AML919 groundwater sampler is a groundwater sampling and monitoring device capable of measuring six parameters within three minutes. It has been used in national groundwater environmental quality assessment and monitoring initiatives. To ensure that groundwater environmental monitoring is conducted in accordance with established procedures, technical personnel involved in the relevant sampling and monitoring activities must pass qualification certification and on-site assessments to obtain the appropriate field assessment qualifications.

To support national groundwater environmental quality assessment and monitoring, strengthen monitoring quality management, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of monitoring data, the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre organized the first on-site qualification assessment for groundwater environmental quality assessment and monitoring sampling personnel on June 29–30, 2026. The assessment was conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Letter on Organizing Qualification Certification and On-Site Assessment for Sampling Personnel in National Groundwater Environmental Quality Assessment and Monitoring (Huan Ce Han [2021] No. 43).

The assessment consisted of two parts: a theoretical examination and a practical skills assessment. A total of 128 technical personnel from 13 organizations participated. At the time, the assessment was unprecedented in both the number of participating organizations and the scale of participation. To ensure that the process was standardized and efficient while maintaining fairness and impartiality, the China National Environmental Monitoring Centre developed rigorous examination content and on-site practical assessment criteria based on the specific requirements of groundwater sampling and monitoring.

The expert panel comprised specialists from environmental monitoring and geological environment monitoring systems, all with extensive practical experience in groundwater sampling and monitoring. With the support of the relevant basin centers, the assessment was divided into two groups and conducted in Bengbu, Anhui Province, and Wuhan, Hubei Province. The assessments were carried out for relevant technical personnel from the Shenyang Center of China Geological Survey and the Hydrology Bureau of the Changjiang Water Resources Commission. Throughout the process, the expert panel strictly followed the assessment requirements and carefully evaluated both written examination papers and on-site practical performance to ensure procedural compliance and objective results.

This on-site qualification assessment further strengthened the quality awareness of personnel responsible for groundwater environmental quality assessment and monitoring sampling. It also enhanced their professional capabilities and standardized operating skills, laying a solid foundation for the orderly implementation of national groundwater environmental quality assessment and monitoring and the effective assurance of monitoring data quality.

Before the practical assessment, AIMOLI’s R&D engineering team provided on-site explanations and operational guidance to the participating technical personnel on the operation, key features, and usage of the AML919 groundwater sampler. Through demonstrations based on the device’s practical applications, the engineers helped participants gain a better understanding of its operating procedures and key points for use. During the training, participants listened attentively and documented the relevant operating information using laptop computers, mobile phone recordings, and other methods for subsequent study and practical application.
