For this type of special monitoring well, conventional sampling methods can easily disturb the groundwater. Therefore, choosing the right <strong>depth-specific sampler<\/strong>, <strong>depth-specific water sampler<\/strong>, or <strong>static depth-specific sampler<\/strong> is very important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">I. Why Can Conventional Groundwater Sampling Easily Cause Data Deviations?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During groundwater sampling, if the sampling equipment causes significant disturbance to the water inside the well during operation, it may change the turbidity of the water sample and consequently affect subsequent test results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, when using conventional groundwater sampling equipment, equipment performance, the lowering method, and on-site operating procedures can all affect the final water sample quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After abnormal data appears, secondary sampling and retesting are usually required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In some projects, more standardized on-site procedures during secondary sampling can ultimately produce data that meets requirements. However, the project managed by Manager Chen had already undergone three consecutive batches of sampling, and the test data still could not pass the review. This indicates that the problem was likely not simply insufficient standardization of personnel operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is also why the actual application of <strong>depth-specific samplers<\/strong> and <strong>static depth-specific samplers<\/strong> is receiving increasing attention in groundwater environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">II. Thin Aquifer + Deep Well Sampling Makes Conventional Pump Sampling More Difficult<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After further investigation, we found that the monitoring wells with abnormal sampling data had one very obvious characteristic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The aquifers of these monitoring wells were extremely thin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aquifer thickness of some monitoring wells was approximately 0.7 meters, some were approximately 0.5 meters, and some thin aquifers were only 0.3 meters thick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the sampling depth of these monitoring wells was more than 30 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More importantly, Manager Chen&#8217;s team was using a conventional pump sampler for groundwater sampling at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For ordinary water layers, conventional pump samplers already require strict control of the operating process. For thin aquifers of 0.3 meters, 0.5 meters, or 0.7 meters, greater water-flow disturbance from the sampling equipment can more easily affect the representativeness of the water sample.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Especially when sampling at depths greater than 30 meters, controlling the pump lowering speed, wire-rope movement, and equipment position inside the well becomes even more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under these conditions, <strong>conventional pump samplers can easily disturb the water inside the well<\/strong>.
